A new space, a new chapter in welcoming the world to UJK.

On 17 June 2026, Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce officially opened its new Welcome Centre at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences.

The Centre provides a dedicated point of support for international students, doctoral candidates and researchers, helping them navigate university life and settle into their new surroundings in Kielce.

More than a welcome

Support from the First Steps to Everyday University Life

Moving to another country to study or conduct research involves more than joining a university. It also means navigating a new environment, finding your way around the city and getting familiar with a different academic and administrative system.

Welcome Centre UJK was established to make this transition easier. Its role is to support international guests throughout their stay, from planning their arrival to the time they leave Kielce.

FOR STUDENTS

An opening with a message

Turning the Globe Instead of Cutting a Ribbon

The inauguration brought together representatives of the University’s authorities, with Rector Prof. Beata Wojciechowska among those attending. The event also highlighted the importance of internationalisation as one of UJK’s key development priorities.

Instead of a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, the opening was marked by a symbolic gesture: turning a globe. The gesture reflected the Centre’s international outlook and its mission to connect people, cultures and academic experiences.

The Centre’s mission is to help international guests feel at home at UJK from the very beginning of their stay.

As emphasised by Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Dr hab. prof. UJK Sylwia Konarska-Zimnicka, the support is intended to accompany international students and researchers from the planning stage of their visit until their departure from Kielce.

A shared commitment

Towards a More International University

The opening of Welcome Centre is part of the University’s wider effort to create an environment in which international students, doctoral candidates, researchers and academic staff can feel welcome and supported.

As more people choose Kielce as a place to study, teach and conduct research, initiatives like this help build connections across cultures and strengthen the University’s international community.
